IT Technical Architect - Sofia

What you will do

• Set the technical standards for the department (languages, frameworks, APIs, security, observability) and turn them into templates, reference implementations and automated checks in CI.
• Design the AI-assisted engineering setup: coding and review agents, approved skills, ai.md rules per repository, approved MCP integrations, and the guardrails that keep agents away from production data and changes.
• Lead the code review community and own the review standards, so that AI-generated code is reviewed harder, not less.
• Work with Platform Engineering & SRE on the delivery pipeline: CI/CD, GitOps, Kubernetes, quality and security gates, and the metrics that show whether AI helps or hurts (review queue time, pipeline wait, defect escape).
• Support the domain teams in solution design: API contracts (TM Forum Open APIs), integration and event patterns, data access and non-functional requirements.
• Guide the modernisation of legacy systems: use AI to understand and document old code, write characterisation tests, and replace legacy step by step behind clear interfaces.
• Prototype and evaluate new AI tools and approaches, and say clearly what works and what doesn’t.
• Take part in the Architecture Review Board for technical decisions and record deviations as ADRs

What we are looking for?

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering, with at least 2 years in a technical lead or architect role.
• Strong coding skills in at least one of Java, .NET, TypeScript/Node.js or Python. You read and review code every week.
• Practical experience building software with AI: coding assistants and agents, LLM APIs, prompt and context design, RAG, evaluation of AI output, and an understanding of AI security risks (prompt injection, data leakage).
• Experience with containers and Kubernetes, CI/CD and GitOps.
• Good understanding of API-first and event-driven architecture, microservices and integration patterns.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• A pragmatic mindset: you can tell an assertion from a demonstrated fact and explain trade-offs to engineers and managers.
• Good English and the ability to write clear technical standards and decisions.
• A university degree is welcome but not required. We value proven experience and what you have built.

Nice to have:

• Experience in telecoms or with BSS/OSS systems; TM Forum Open APIs or ODA.
• Experience with MCP servers, agent frameworks or building internal developer platforms.
• Experience modernising legacy code (C++, PL/SQL) with AI assistance.
• Kubernetes or cloud certifications (CKA/CKAD, AWS/Azure/GCP), security certifications.
• Open-source contributions or a portfolio you can show us.
