Certification Engineer
Your Role
You own the EMC/EMI compliance journey for Shelly’s smart devices — from early design reviews and pre‑compliance to formal certification and market approvals. You plan and run tests against CE/RED/EMC and global frameworks (FCC, UL, VDE), debug issues with the hardware team, and make sure every product ships compliant.
Job requirements
What makes you a great fit:
• You have at least 5 years of work experience as a hardware design engineer or you bring a hands‑on EMC/EMI testing and certification experience for electrical/electronic devices.
• You know the ins and outs of EMC and safety standards (ESD, surge, radiated and conducted emissions immunity).
• You are comfortable with CE, RED, UL, FCC regulations.
• You handle and setup the tools: EMI receiver/spectrum analyzer, LISN, current probes, CDNs, oscilloscopes, GTEM/anechoic setups.
• You review schematics and PCB layouts for EMC, and you know how to fix problems (filters, grounding, shielding, ferrites, cable routing).
• You write clear test plans and crisp reports supporting engineering team in solving reported issues.
• English is not a blocker for you.
• You hold a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or similar).
Job responsibilities
• You lead EMC/EMI compliance activities for new and sustaining products — from requirements through certification.
• You define EMC requirements and acceptance criteria with hardware design team.
• You consult when necessary, with accredited labs for new products to identify appropriate compliance standards
• You create and execute, together with the hardware engineer, EMC test plans; you run in‑house pre‑compliance and coordinate accredited lab testing, for tests which cannot be performed in our lab.
• You troubleshoot failures and drive design changes with the team (component selection, filters, shielding, layout, grounding, cabling).
• You monitor standard updates translate them into practical design and test guidance.
• You keep lab equipment calibrated and test setups repeatable; you improve fixtures and procedures.
• You mentor teammates on design‑for‑EMC and share practical tips from testing.
• You support engineering change control so production changes stay compliant.
