Job Description

We are currently looking for a Global Delivery Release Manager to join our Global Delivery Engineering Team.

The role is responsible for Global Delivery and possesses knowledge of release management discipline where SDLC, DevOps, SRE, and agile value streams are involved. This individual will be part of cross-functional Delivery team focused on the successful delivery and deployment of a GDA business solutions. 

This individual is a natural partnerships builder capable of influencing business and tech decisions to ensure successful value realization. This role contributes to the success of the GDA business by driving quality, collaboration, and systematic releases that directly result in speed to value for GDA clients.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end delivery release and best practices:
    • Leverage understanding of the SDLC and DevOps pipelines to ensure integrated release management from product to solution delivery.
    • Manage code deployments, including use of tools for varying deployment types, change management, and establish necessary governance processes and system to ensure effective and efficient releases across the end-to-end release lifecycle from GDA into the Regions.
    • Cultivate working relationships across GDA Product Management (GDSG), Development (GSG), Global Delivery Engineering (GDSCS) and Regional Delivery teams. Leverage those relationships to lead cross-functional coordination.
  • Provide Release Consultancy:
    • Deliver Value in line with Product Management defined outcomes
    • Make decisions to accelerate the delivery of business value
    • Capacity to transfer knowledge, train and mentor other resources in the company. Pro-active knowledge transfer
    • Work with Agile Delivery teams to review status, risks and issues associated with each project and dependencies across these
    • Assist Delivery Team with:
      • Financial tracking and budgeting
      • Review of key issues and associate mitigating activities
      • Brief executive level stakeholders
    • Provide process coaching to teams in the delivery of a Global Product
    • Work with business to manage dependencies
    • Act as a point of escalation for impediments and blockers within their assigned projects
      • Work with the business to resolve any impediments and blockers
    • Matrix management of multiple global virtual teams to deliver the common goals of the Organisation.
    • The day-to-day management of Deliveries through to their successful delivery, in line with the agreed schedule, quality and budget.
    • Implementing appropriate controls to track the delivery of Value.
  • Work with Delivery Team to:
    • Develop and drive adoption of organisation wide standards
    • Identify and execution of Continuous Improvement activities
    • Support creation of Delivery best practices, tools, and ways to drive efficiency in order to reduce costs and add value

Qualifications

Skills and experience:

  • Proven working knowledge of continual software and solution deployment with ability to conduct analysis of tools, CI/CD processes, code deployment and management practices, change management for SaaS releases.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess and quantify operational impacts of releases to Regional Delivery teams and clients.
  • Hands-on experience with SaaS release management (deployment and version tracking), problem solving, and establishing/improving the release scheduling cadence.
  • Solid understanding of the software delivery lifecyle
  • Experience of working within a SaaS and on-prem/hosted delivery enviroment
  • Coaching and mentoring of staff and teams
  • Experience of working in large and complex global programmes which are regularly subject to significant changes
  • Creating complex plans based on multiple underlying Value streams; outlining key  tasks, deliverables, dependencies and timelines
  • Working within a global programme governance
  • Presenting to executive/board level
  • Excellent Communication and Influencing skills
  • Working on multi-phased projects with re-planning and continuous improvement based on retrospectives
  • Negotiating timescales and resources with delivery teams
  • Tracking budgets, progress and finances across multiple interdependent delivery initiatives
  • Promoting of benefits of Delivery best practise to senior stakeholders
  • Working with demanding senior stakeholders to understand objectives and business value and to negotiate consensus
  • Deep understanding and experience of using Lean Principles, Agile and Scrum.
  • Change management (including cultural change).
