The Municipality of Gorna Oryahovitsa is located in Central Northern Bulgaria, nestled among the picturesque northern foothills of the Arbanasi Hill, on the border between the Pre-Balkan and the Danube Plain. The hills around the city are cut through by the gorge of the Yantra River. The Municipality of Gorna Oryahovitsa is the second largest economic center in the Veliko Tarnovo Region. It covers an area of 318 square kilometers and includes 14 settlements (2 towns and 12 villages).
The city is an important transport hub, thanks to its railway line and its proximity to the Hemus motorway, making it strategically important for the economic development of the region. The municipality is also home to Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport – the fifth in the country with international status and with potential for further development.
A successor to the first International Trade Fair, created here in 1925, the municipality is now a dynamically developing area with a strong presence in industry and agriculture. It is known for its enterprises in the sectors of machine engineering, textiles, and food processing. The favorable climate conditions also allow for the development of agriculture, with a variety of crops being grown, such as grains, fruit, and vegetables. One of the local government's priorities is the development of the Ryahovets Industrial Park, where the first two major investors are already expected.
The Municipality of Gorna Oryahovitsa is also an important cultural center with numerous historical and architectural landmarks. Local museums, churches, and traditional festivals attract visitors from all over the country. The municipality takes care of the well-being of its residents through well-developed social and healthcare services, and the first results of active efforts to improve the infrastructure are already visible.
