Role overview:
We are looking for a Senior Accountant with German for a fixed-term contract of at least one year with our international partners. The role involves joining established finance teams and ensuring accurate and timely financial processing. Responsibilities include financial reporting, month-end closing, audit support, compliance with accounting standards, and participation in process improvement initiatives in a multinational environment.
Based on performance and business needs, there may be an opportunity for contract extension or permanent employment.
Main responsibilities:
- Prepare and review financial statements and monthly reports, including variance analysis (MoM, YoY).
- Perform month-end closing tasks, including balance sheet reconciliations and participation in close meetings.
- Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements, and support internal and external audits.
- Prepare financial reports and analyze variances and trends.
- Review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, and support junior colleagues.
- Help improve accounting processes and support optimization initiatives.
- Create and maintain SOPs and accounting documentation.
- Work with internal and external teams to resolve accounting and operational issues.
- Work in a structured way and meet deadlines based on client requirements.
Requirements:
- 2–5 years of experience as an Accountant in an international company. (Bulgarian accounting background is also considered if you are comfortable working in an international environment.)
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS.
- Fluent German and good command of English.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP will be considered as a plus).
- Advanced MS Excel skills (formulas and Pivot Tables required; macros are a plus).
- Experience with month-end closing, general ledger, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Experience in financial reporting, variance analysis, and audit support.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
