Product Owner – Smart Lighting

Your Role

Join us as a Product Owner – Smart Lighting and take ownership of a product line that brings everyday lighting into the smart home world. You lead the development of smart lighting products from idea to launch, working closely with hardware, firmware, design, certification, marketing, and sales teams to create products that are reliable, useful, and genuinely loved by users.

What makes you a great fit

What makes you a great fit:

• You have 3+ years of experience in product management, product ownership, project management, sales, distribution, production, or another role connected to lighting products.
• You have solid knowledge of lighting products such as LED lights, bulbs, strips, dimmers, drivers, switches, RGB/RGBW lighting, and related accessories.
• You understand how lighting products are used in real homes, offices, commercial spaces, or electrical installations.
• You have experience working with physical products, preferably in development, production, technical sales, distribution, or product lifecycle management.
• You are comfortable discussing technical topics with engineering teams, even when you are not the person designing the electronics yourself.
• You understand customer needs and can turn market feedback into clear product requirements.
• You are organised, proactive, and able to keep many moving parts under control without losing the big picture.
• You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical teams.
• You have strong analytical skills and use data, feedback, and market insights to make better product decisions.
• You have a strong interest in IoT, home automation, smart homes, and connected lighting.
• The English language has no secrets for you.

Your responsibilities

• You own and lead the product strategy, roadmap, and development of Shelly smart lighting products from concept to launch.
 • You research lighting trends, customer needs, competitor products, and market opportunities to shape the future of the product line.
 • You define clear product requirements for smart lighting devices, including functionality, user experience, compatibility, installation specifics, and performance expectations.
 • You work closely with hardware, firmware, mechanical, QA, certification, technical documentation, marketing, and sales teams to move products forward.
 • You translate ideas, customer feedback, and business needs into practical product specifications and priorities.
 • You maintain the product backlog and help teams stay focused on the most important work.
 • You clear bottlenecks, manage dependencies, and keep communication moving between all stakeholders.
 • You collaborate with engineers to evaluate trade-offs around cost, performance, design, installation, safety, and user experience.
 • You support testing and validation of prototypes, samples, and final products before launch.
 • You conduct pre-certification testing and manage communication with certification labs and authorities.
 • You prepare and support product documentation to meet certification requirements.
 • You prepare and support user manuals, technical documentation, product pages, and internal product materials.
 • You help define go-to-market plans and support sales, marketing, and customer-facing teams with clear product information.
 • You monitor product performance after launch and use feedback, data, and real-life use cases to improve future versions.
 • You keep a close eye on the lighting market and bring fresh ideas for new products, improvements, and smarter user experiences.
